Open source storage available for free

XigmaNAS, an open-source Network-Attached Storage system (NAS), is distributed on FreeBSD. It is an operating system that can be installed on almost any hardware. The O/S aims at sharing data storage over a network. It works in a similar way to Openmediavault, AOMEI Backupper, and FreeNAS.

It's the fastest and most efficient way to create a centralised server that can be accessed for all data types. Access to all network standards can be made from any network. This software is essential if you want to share data on your computer network easily.

How does it work?

XigmaNAS allows sharing on Unix and Windows systems. It includes software RAID, ZFS version 5000, disk encryption and email reports. It also includes protocols such as FTP, AFP and TFTP, Active Directory Domain Controllers, Unison, CARP and HAST, among others.

These protocols can be configured via the WEB interface. To use the operating system, install it on a HDD, SSD, or USB drive. You can also boot it from a LiveUSB/LiveCD with a small USB Key to configure storage.

What is the difference between TrueNAS & FreeNAS?

TrueNAS and FreeNas have two main differences: their delivery methods. FreeNAS is a free software program that requires users to be familiar with storage before they can select the right hardware for their application. TrueNAS, on the other hand is an appliance designed specifically for storage.

Hardware requirements for XigmaNAS

These system requirements are required to install the operating system on your device.

A multi-core 64-bit processorA computer that has minimum RAM storage of 8 GB (ECC recommends)A USB Stick (for configuration storage), and one or two HDDs (minimum 2 GB for embedded platforms, full platform requires 4 GB).A CF or USB stick for a full platform is not recommended.A bootable HDD and one to more HDDs are required for data storage.
Is XigmaNAS secure?

XigmaNAS is secure and safe, similar to FreeNAS. The operating system platform is built on the FreeBSD O/S. This OS uses security best practices in its development. The security of XigmaNAS depends on a properly configured firewall.
