Windows Live Movie Maker is a free tool that allows you to edit video. It includes music, narration, transition effects and more. Microsoft developed the application for Windows computers and laptops. Live Movie Maker offers an intuitive user interface that allows you to import, edit, save, and export audio, image, or video files in order to create animated productions.

Although you can still download Windows Movie Maker, the Microsoft store has officially discontinued the service in 2017. The video editor version included in the Microsoft Photos app was replaced by the multimedia utility by the developers.

Windows Live Movie Maker is available for free on Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 8 and Windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit operating systems. You won't be distracted by in-app ads. To create your own movie using the platform, you don't need any technical knowledge or experience.

This popular program allows you to make movies in a tabbed interface that looks like Microsoft Office applications such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and others. To control the multimedia clips on the right side, you can navigate through the tabs. You can preview your edits in video player on the left side of the UI.

Click on the Add videos and photos’ icon in the menu bar's 'Home' tab to combine music and photos into films. You will be able to choose the media you wish to import into the app. You can choose to transfer one item or multiple files at once.

After you click the 'Open' button, all of the content will be displayed in the right-hand corner of the UI. To determine which section of the production is being edited, you can move the cursor black on the media clips. The preview screen will reflect the media you have selected with the cursor.

You can control the player using the lever on the timeline or the backward, forward and play keys below the screen. You can also use the space bar for launching and stopping the video. To edit a particular movie clip, you can click on it. A highlighted area will be surrounded by a blue line.

To cut a piece of text, go to Edit> under 'Video Tools' and click on the ’Split’ button. The freeware will split the segment based on where the cursor is placed. To erase specific excerpts, tap the clip and open the context menu. Then press 'Remove' on your keyboard or tap the clip.

Expanding the dropdown menu next the 'Speed' tab in the 'Edit" tab can change the speed of a clip. You can adjust the duration of a picture in a film by using the 'Duration" dropdown options.

You can add a transition effect to two multimedia sections. There are many transitions available in the Animations area. These include dissolves, patterns and shapes. The transition will be added at the beginning of the selected media. You can modify the duration of the effect by writing to it or choosing a different time period from the dropdown menu beside 'Duration'.

Filmora and iMovie are alternative editors that have been developed by reputable companies. iMovie can be used on Apple computers, while Filmora can be used on Wondershare computers. Because the command prompts in Filmora and iMovie are not as easily visible, both are less intuitive than Windows Live Movie Maker. All of the media editing applications can be used to alter media clips, including trimming, adding text, and splitting.

Windows Live Movie Maker can edit and merge audio, image, and video files to create custom productions. Movie Maker's simple design makes it easy to use all functions, including narration and visual effects. You can save your creations as high-definition movies using the editing solution. You can integrate multiple websites into the 'Home" section, including YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, and YouTube.

Movie Maker will no longer receive software updates after Microsoft stopped developing it. You can download the Microsoft Video Editor if you require a more current service.
