Windows 10: Free script
Windows 10 Lite doesn't have an app or an operating system, despite the name. It's a script that you can download for free to optimize your device's performance. It will remove most apps, privacy-related elements, and disable unnecessary operating system tasks.
Be careful as Windows 10 Lite could disable your Windows 10 installation if you don’t use the script correctly. It is only for advanced PC users. Sourceforge's developer page states that the script was stopped by regular Windows updates.
Debloat Windows 10 is another similar program.
Is there a lite version of Windows 10?Some refer to Windows 10 S-Mode, a 'lite' version Windows 10.
It's an optional mode that's part of regular Windows 10 and the default for some new Windows devices--particularly those with lower specs. S-Mode cannot be purchased separately as a standalone product. It's also not available as a'mode1'.
S-Mode will only allow Windows to run apps that are available in the Microsoft Store. This is to avoid performance issues that may sometimes accompany apps downloaded from third-party sources. You can switch between S-Mode and full Windows 10, but once you have changed, you cannot revert back to S-Mode.
Is Windows 10 Lite secure?Windows 10 Lite was discontinued in 2019 and you are more likely to have problems with it than with apps or packages that are regularly maintained. One wrong move can render Windows 10 Lite useless. It's important to exercise extreme caution when using Windows 10.
Windows 10 Lite is a great option for gamers and power users who want to get the most out of their device. However, it's best for IT professionals with a lot of experience.
Use at your own riskWe don't recommend Windows 10 Lite because of the inherent risks to your device security or operating system integrity. You are taking a risk by installing an open-source custom program on your device.
There are other script packages or apps that are more reliable, such as Debloat Windows 10, however. It is more practical to use one of these apps or script packages, especially if you can exchange feedback and information with the developer who updates the program regularly.
