VRtuos Companion App for Windows

Free VRtous connection tool

VRtous Companion app is a Windows tool that connects pianos and OculusQuest devices. It is designed to complement VRtous by Pavel Marceluch which was created for virtual reality piano education. The original program and companion apps are still in development. New features are added regularly to improve the user experience.

To take advantage of this app, you will need a piano and the VRtous program. The latter is a play on words about how virtuous you'll be by using it. It's a piano app that uses a different approach to Vivace or Flowkey.

The program allows you to calibrate your piano and import the songs that you wish to learn. The VR headset shows you the notes falling on your keys directly, making it easy for you to practice and learn new pieces. You can also customize the learning environment. For easy access, you can create custom backgrounds and input folders.

If you use VRtous with a Quest headset and a midi keyboard, the companion app is essential. It allows you to enjoy all that virtual reality has to offer. It's just a window on your Windows PC. Unfortunately, there is no mobile app.

After selecting input and output devices, visit VRtous to check the upper left panel. There you will find the IP address required. Then click 'Connect' to complete the process.

The program and application are still in development so there are often performance issues. Most of these issues are easy to fix. Make sure your Quest and PC connect to the same WiFi network, or hotspot, and check if your firewall is blocking communication. If none of these solutions work, you can contact the Discord community, the creator or a member his network.

If you use VRtous, it makes perfect sense to download this app. The Windows program is extremely useful for connecting your Oculus device to your piano via local WiFi. It's still in development and has many useful features that will improve its performance.
