Both recording settings can be found under the Media' tab of the Open Capture Device setting. Adjust the settings in the 'Capture Device tab' of the window. Select 'Desktop to record your screen, and 'DirectShow to use your camera to record.
To take a screenshot of the video you are watching, right click and hover above "Video" in the context menu. Click on "Take Snapshot". VLC allows you to convert audio and video files. You can convert files by clicking on the 'Media tab' and selecting Convert / Save.
You will see a window where you can add the files you wish to convert from the browser. Click on the Add ...' link. After you have selected the files that you wish to convert, click on the Convert /Save' button at bottom of screen. The next screen will display a dropdown menu with a list of file types.
You can choose the destination and format to save the file to. Once you are ready for the conversion process to begin, you can click the 'Start’ button at the bottom. The converted content will be located in the folder you have selected.
