Virtual Piano allows you to play the piano without a keyboard

Virtual Piano is a free app that allows users to use their computer to play a virtual MIDI piano. Users can either use an external MIDI device, play the notes in-app, or download predefined MIDI files. The interface is simple and easy to use, making it accessible to even those who aren't familiar with MIDI instruments.

The app functions in the same way as Electric Piano and, although it's a completely different instrument, EZ Drummer. You can also program it to create different sounds.

Full MIDI control

Although the app is called Virtual Piano (or MIDI input device), the "piano" refers only to the input method displayed onscreen. There are many instruments that can be selected. The keys of the virtual piano or your MIDI input device correspond to the notes on the instrument. These are the most common MIDI instruments. The sound produced will vary depending on your system.

You can also apply effects such as chorus, delay, reverb, chorus, and pitch slider to customize the sound of your session. The app is light in storage usage and system resources, making the app a viable option for almost any computer, even those that are quite old.

Fun but limited

Virtual Piano is a fun tool that you can use to practice using different sounds. However, the quality of sound produced with MIDI synthesisers does not suffice for professional music production. This is a limitation of MIDI sound and not the app.

The Virtual Piano is not suitable to produce professional music. Although it is possible to record the output using other software, there is no way to capture the audio natively.
