Tomb Raider Underworld is the prequel to the highly anticipated Tomb Raider series. It is the sequel to Tomb Raider: Anniversary. The game begins three years after the events in Tomb Raider: Legend. It is now in a post-apocalyptic universe, where the only force capable of protecting the human race against a volcanic eruption is a group British Royal Air Force soldiers, known as the Tomb Raiders. They were sent by the King of England to rescue Bella Gardner, the Presidentress of America, from her Washington, D.C. home.

The storyline of Tomb Raider: Legend is followed in the game. It does not follow the main plot of Tomb Raider: Legend. Instead, it revolves around the idea that there is a global conspiracy. Lara must save the entire world and find out who is behind the attacks against her father's life in this game. This is the final chapter of Crystal Dynamics' Tomb Raider series. It features all the great elements that made the previous games so successful. It ties up Lara's story with her father and introduces us to Iris, the new hero.

Crystal Dynamics: Underworld is a videogame, but it stands out from other Tomb Raider games for a few key reasons.
