How to fix a test disk that won't boot
TestDisk is a free registry repair tool that works! It was originally designed to help recover partitions lost or make non-booting disks bootable again. PhotoRec is a File Recovery tool that can recover deleted data, including music, documents, audio/video files, and files from hard disks, CDROM, and other removable media. These programs are compatible with most operating systems, including Windows, MacOS, and Windows XP.
Windows users will need to download the free Windows application from Microsoft. This will allow you to fix Bootsect and partition errors, if necessary. Follow the on-screen instructions to launch the Windows application after downloading. After Windows has started scanning, click the "fix boot sector" checkbox to stop your test disk getting damaged. Restart your computer and you will be able to boot from your newly repaired partitions.
You will need to install a partition recovery or photo software program to fix a damaged or problematic partition on your test drive. This will allow you to run a manual scan on your test disk using your optical drive. Once your computer has detected all issues, you can repair or resize damaged partitions, fix partially damaged files, and find broken links, among other things.
