A Recycled Publisher focuses more on the Back-Sources of Its Game
Terra Nil, a first-person shooter video game, is being developed by Free Lives Design & Devolver Digital. It is expected to be released in 2021. The game's story takes place in the near future during a major war between human factions led President Napolea from Mars and rogue corporation Zipper. The player controls both the opposing sides and wage war using sci-fi "gear", which enhances combat and movement. The combat involves using guns, machines and "slingshot technology" against each other. The game is played by "tagging" the opponents with a variety of devices.
A young man named Gabriel, who is a futurist in the 20th century, becomes obsessed with finding a way against King Maxis, his evil father. He builds a hovercraft called Terra Null and releases it in the middle of a battlefield where he hopes to destroy King Maxis and liberate his home planet of Zipper. He uses the game's advanced technology to place buildings and resources around the city and hires "contractors", who do his bidding.
We were particularly impressed by the large use of technology that is a reverse city builder. The game shows you how you build up the world by gathering raw materials like coal and oil, and then refining them so you can sell these resources to the refinery. This allows you to build more structures, such as power stations, hospitals, police stations, and other infrastructures. The city grows by collecting taxes in the form coins and credits from citizens. These funds are used to purchase raw materials and refineries to build more of the game's various structures. You earn money by completing jobs or completing quests. This money can be used to buy buildings, repair costs, and refineries that fuel your hovercraft. It is clear that the game's goal is to make as much wealth as possible. While we have only scratched the surface of the gameplay and the various systems involved, we can expect more exciting updates from the recycle publisher, including new ways to play the game.
