What is Soulseek? Is it really worth the effort?
Soulseek is a peer to Peer (P2P), file sharing and computer software network. The term Soulseek can refer to either one of its two peer–to-peer (P2P), networking protocols, or one or more of its users clients. The software called RealTime Now was the first software to be launched as part of the Soulseek network. This software's primary purpose was to allow computers with simultaneous network connections to each another to create virtual LANs (VLAN's). These VLAN's have all the same capabilities as local area networks (LAN) but can transmit data over the Internet. Soulseek software was modified to allow users of separate computers to share the same files with each other, and later with other computers in the network.
You will need to create a search list of the type shown below in order to use Soulseek. This search list will be used for finding individual files whose names match your search criteria. Enter the file name and Soulseek will search the Internet to find the matching information.
Soulseek is an open-source P2P software. Soulseek users have two options: they can download the entire program or the Search List feature. You can sync your files with the Soulseek server if you download the entire program. All of your saved files will be stored under your central database. These files can then be accessed via the Soulseek client or the browser if your browser has been configured to use the Soulseek clients.
