v 1.01|Carbonado
Windows: Free spooky exploration games
Carbonado offers Solis, a free first-person exploration and exploration game for Windows. It's set on an abandoned spaceship and is atmospheric and focused on a strange setting. Solis, like the best horror movies, relies on sound and images to create tension rather than relying on jump scares.
Your environment is almost blackened by the graphics, which are very low-resolution. These aspects combine to place you in the center of the story, allowing you to learn about the events that led you to your discovery. FurnCap and Good Dog are more relaxed first-person games.
StoryYou are a scrap dealer, drifting through space in search of your next cargo. You suddenly come across an abandoned ship. Your scanners show no signs of life.
You can't resist your curiosity and desire to find a business opportunity. So you decide to get on board and explore. You don your helmet, suit, and grab your flashlight and radio to make your way into the cave.
Sound effectsSolis's ominous atmosphere is a result of the minimal use sound. There is very little else, except for your own breathing and intermittent, eerie background noises. It is enough to cause tension to hear your own breathing suddenly speed up. You expect something terrible to happen at any moment.
GameplayThe developer created a strong sense foreboding through the use of sound. Your flashlight is not reliable. You are constantly on edge due to the combination of disturbing background sounds and sudden darkness.
Our takeSolis is a short, free experience that allows you to meet other people. It is a great example of Carbonado's future plans.
This game shows you that you don’t have to resort to jumping scares in order to create an intimidating gaming environment.
