A brief introduction to Snapshots in Windows Server 2020

Microsoft Windows operating system has a powerful feature called Snapshot. A snapshot is basically a snapshot of a computer system at a particular time. The term is loosely derived from photography. A snapshot is a copy or representation of an object at a particular time. It can also refer a system's ability to capture a snapshot of its user interface without having to restart it.

One of the most requested features of Windows, as well as all open-source operating systems such Linux OS and Solaris OS, is the ability to take a snapshot and restore the backup. System administrators have the ability to create a backup and restore it using one command line. This is very useful in times of disaster. Snapshot in Windows is very similar in function to the backup utility in DOS. The only difference is that Windows snapshot utility lets you take a backup, then restore it as many times you need until you have the desired working copy. To take a snapshot, you don't need to restart your computer.

As we have already discussed, Windows provides a variety of ways to store and restore storage snapshots. Microsoft Windows Server 2021 introduces a new feature called "snapshots" in Microsoft Windows Server Feature. This allows administrators to take a snapshot on all servers using one command line. Windows Server 2021 allows you to use Windows' built-in'snapshots' functionality. Right click on the server's icon, and select "use snapshot". You can also click and type "snapshot" in Windows Server 2021 to take a snapshot.
