Universal scanner driver
Media Freeware developed the Free Scanner Software productivity software. It allows your computer to connect to document scanners. This program allows you to use your scanner to create two-dimensional digital images, regardless of whether you are using a flatbed or drum scanner. These images can be saved in PNG, JPG, PDF, or TIFF formats. This file scanner has a simple user interface that displays only the primary tools and a viewing window. Free Scanner Software was designed for Windows operating systems, specifically Windows Vista, Windows XP and Windows 7. Windows 8.1 is also supported.
CapabilitiesAlthough it is important to keep a physical copy of a document, it is also useful to have a digital copy. Free Scanner Software can be used to scan any type of scanner. The scanner driver can connect to any scanner connected to your computer, regardless of whether it is a sheet-fed scanner, flatbed scanner, handheld scanner or drum scanner. Once the scanner driver has identified your device, you can start scanning. The program will display your document in the viewer window.
Free Scanner Software offers only nine tools, including the scan command. Other commands include Save PDF, Save Images and Send PDF and Email, Move up, Move down, Rotate Left, Rotate right, and Profiles. You can start tasks with one click by simply displaying the commands as icons above the display window. This program does not have a taskbar or a menu bar. However, there is a pop-up window that allows you to view Profiles. This allows you create your own scan settings and display name.
You can choose from a TWAIN Driver or a WIA driver under the display name. The first stands for Windows Image Acquisition. It is a Microsoft driver model which allows graphics software such as Free Scanner Software, to communicate with your imaging hardware. This protocol regulates the connection between your driver and digital imaging devices. Although both drivers can connect to your scanner, the TWAIN Driver encrypts your document.
Configuration settingsProfiles allow you to customize settings. Each user can define his own settings. These settings include the Paper source, Page size and Resolution, Bit depth as well as Horizontal align, Scale and Brightness. The Paper source refers to the scanner used to scan the document. You have the option of choosing between glass, feeder, or duplex. The Resolution setting is another important option. You can scan files at 100 dpi up to 1200 dpi. This allows you to capture the details of the item you are scanning.
Software for substantial scanningFree Scanner Software is an ideal program for users who need to scan and save documents quickly. This program is easy to use with its simple interface and icons. You can also add profiles to make the process easier, as the program already has your preferred settings.
