Data transfer is easy with no cost
Smart Switch, a Samsung product, connects your Galaxy to your PC for seamless data transfer from your old device. You can connect wirelessly or use a USB Cable to copy the data from your phone to your computer. You can then restore it to your new device or copy it and restore it from an SD-card.
Samsung Smart Switch for Windows allows you to choose what information you want to send your new Samsung device. This includes call history, contacts, messages and images. You can also choose to have your home screen set as your preference. Wondershare and Filmora offer similar features.
How to use the Samsung Smart SwitchThe free app is available for Samsung devices running Android 4.2.1 or higher. Next, download the app to your Windows 7 or later PC with Windows 7 and Windows Media Player 11 or higher, Pentium 4 CPU, 512+MB RAM, and Windows 7 or later.
You can connect your old Samsung to your computer wirelessly or via a USB cable. An OTG adapter is required if your phone does not have a USB-C port. Once connected, tap 'Allow' on your device. Open Smart Switch on your computer and choose 'Backup. All data on your device will be backed up automatically. Once the process is complete, click 'OK.
Next, download the app and install it on your Samsung device. Find the backup location on your PC. Unless you specify a different location, the software stores the backup at the default location. Search for AppData inFile Explorer to locate the backup. Next, select the Smart Switch folder. Before you transfer data to your new Samsung Galaxy device, make sure that Smart Switch for Windows supports all files.
Open the software, and then connect your new Galaxy to the USB cable. To locate the backup file, select 'Restore'. After the process is complete, click Restore now> and then OK> To complete the process, you will need to grant certain permissions to your new phone.
