Video presentation tool free

MeadiArea created QCTools, an open source freeware program that helps users analyze and understand their digitised videos via audiovisual analysis and filtering. The National Endowment for the Humanities funded the QCTools project. Knight Foundation also funded it. This program can be installed on all Windows, Linux, and Mac systems.

This app allows users to reveal corruptions and compromises in analogue video digitization or born-digital video results. This tool can be used by motion picture professionals, preservationists, curators, preservationists, and archive staff to detect, filter, and evaluate different video anomalies and errors. Praat and Audacity are similar apps.

Graphing filters

QCTools provides a variety of graphing filters for video including YUV values, Temporal Outliers and Vertical Line Repetitions, Broadcast Range and Crop Width, Height, Peak Signal to Noise Ratio, and Broadcast Range. Audio filters include Audio Phase Meter, Audio Diffs, Audio Diffs, and RMS.

Playback filters

The preview window can be used as an analytical playback environment that allows users to review multiple filters simultaneously. This playback window allows users to view two screens with different combinations of filters. These filters include Vectorscope, Waveform, Line Select, and Histogram.

New features

Panel tracks allow users to view time-line-based images that represent audio or video tracks. You can add a graph showing the zero-crossing rate of audio tracks, and a diagram showing active video bit-depth.

It's worth noting that users can launch the tool from the command line by typing the following: flatpak run net.mediaarea.QCTools.

Video preservation quality control

The installation package is compact so that it doesn't take up too much space on your hard drive. The interface is intuitive and user-friendly. The file name is clearly visible in the vertical pane. Filter names can be found in the same pane.

This tool offers a complete package of quality control tools for audio and video analysis and filtering. It allows users to create and export reports in various formats, including CSV, XML, and GZ. You also have online access to detailed documentation.
