Is this cloud gaming method similar to that of SIE?
PlayStation Now is the newest entry in the video game console market. PlayStation Now allows users to play classic PlayStation 2 or PlayStation 3 games on their computer via a broadband internet connection. This can be done without the need for any CDs or memory sticks, but it requires the installation of a small piece software that Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has created on the computer. Once the software is installed, the gamer can simply launch the computer to get the console to work.
The PlayStation Now service is similar in concept to the cloud gaming subscriptions available on the World Wide Web. These services allow subscribers to watch TV shows, movies, and television shows online from a variety of TV networks, including Sony, AT&T and Verizon, Comcast and Time Warner, Hulu and Viacom, Mediacom and Discovery. SIE hopes to expand its current PlayStation business model, which allows gamers to play games while on the move with PlayStation Now.
Many of the PlayStation Now games, especially older ones, are very popular so you will want to subscribe now if you love old video game consoles. I'm sure even the most avid gamers will find it convenient to have access to this PlayStation Now service from their home. It will be interesting to see how the new online service develops, especially since Microsoft and Nintendo have already launched their cloud gaming plans. I'm certain that PlayStation fans will continue having fun with this new feature on the PS3 or Wii.
