Sony Online Entertainment has released PlanetSide 2, a multiplayer online first-person shooter that is free to play. PlanetSide 2 gameplay revolves around open-world territory control. It features large battles with up to 2000 players per continent.

The Terran Republic, New Conglomerate and Vanu Sovereignty are the three contesting factions. Planetside 2 currently has four playable continents, each with many territories that can be contested and taken over.

Planetside 2 offers 6 classes with different abilities and equipment.

Heavy Assault – You are the Auraxis foot soldier. You are the Auraxis foot soldier. Light Assault – Use your jetpack to go where the Heavies cannot. You can surprise your enemies by picking a high spot and throwing a grenade. Infiltrator: Stealthy and silent you are death from below the shadows. You are the enemy's greatest terror, whether you choose to use a knife from behind, or take a single shot from the sniper's nest. Engineers can drop their shielded turret to take out advancing troops.
