Network simulation tool

Cisco Packet Tracer allows you to simulate computer networks by arranging nodes and connecting lines. This software is designed to be used as an educational tool by Certified Cisco Network Associate students. Advanced users can use the software to create network topologies, and learn basic CCNA concepts. This program can be used to simulate the configuration and operation of Cisco routers or switches. This program displays a command-line interface that allows you to drag and drop network devices. This will allow you to understand network behavior and help you discover new network ideas.

Functions

Packet Tracer simulates the design of networks. It emulates the action of hardware in Cisco Internet Operating System. Click and drag routers, switches, and other network devices to create your own network topology. This tool is limited to basic Cisco IOS tools and was created as a supplementary tool to CCNA Academy students.

It offers an authoring system as well as a simulation of network protocols to aid users in understanding abstract concepts. This is possible by rendering the network elements in animation. It only provides the necessary Cisco routers or switches. You will not be able create a production network or learn all the IOS. Click and drag the Cisco network devices onto your work area to begin designing your network topology.

Once a physical connection is made, a cable item will be created. You can also simulate basic routing protocols like Open Shortest Path First, Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol and Border Gateway Protocol (BGP). You can also use the software to collaborate. You and other Packet Tracer users have the ability to connect multiple topologies using one computer network. Multi-user systems allow students to create a network and instructors to conduct network experimentation in the classroom.

Network Topology: Essential tool

Cisco Packet Tracer, a simple network simulation platform, is available to both advanced users and students of Cisco Networking Academy. You can learn practical networking skills and experiment with network behavior. It is compatible with Windows 7, 8, and 10.
