Motoracing – A Review of Its History and Today's Issues
Motoracing was a newspaper that was published from September 1955 to January 1964. All 203 Motoracing issues were scanned from original negatives to be included on the DVD. Each of the 2,057 pages is printed in full color with fine printing. The photographs are of high quality and include many photographs of racing positions, test track, photographs from MotoRacing archives and other important content. The DVD contains a large section on motorcycle racing history. It includes an introduction to motorcycling, a timeline of important events in motor racing and a list highlighting the most important races.
Two correspondences between MotoRacing Editor-in-chief Bill Poulos and Rosemary Poulos are included on the DVD. These letters give insight and detail into the inner workings MotoRacing, from its inception to its current status. These letters also give the first impressions of Mr. David Cote who wrote the original text of the magazine. These letters are the last remaining independent motorcycle magazines and they help to set the stage for other publications to follow suit.
Motoracing was the first and only American motorcycle magazine. David Bittrl1000 started it. He was the son of a mechanic, and a race car driver. David Bittrl 1000 was a staff writer for Hot Rod, the first motorcycle magazine. He went on to write for many other publications, including Cycle Sports, Motor Cycle News and Motocross Now. He began to combine his passion for motorcycles and his writing skills, and he founded the Motoracing Magazine. The first issue of Motoracing Magazine was published on April 24, 1955. Within a month, it was sold out. Motoracing has evolved over the years due to the demand and is still being read by professionals and enthusiasts around the globe.
