Software to capture screen
LICEcap is a program that allows you to capture the screen of your computer. Once you have the recording, you can save the file as a GIF or LCF file. It is easy to use because of its minimalistic design.
Uncommon filetypeLICEcap allows you to export the files in either the GIF format which has a large file size or the lossless LCF. LCF files are not only high quality but also large and rare. They won't work on every media platform.
The software can be controlled over how many frames are generated. The software will produce a larger end product if you have more frames. The program itself is simple and small, so it won't take up too much CPU.
Good usabilityIt is very easy to use. LICEcap offers a resizable tool that allows you to drag the box to cover the area you want to capture. Once you've done this, hit record and then press stop whenever you like.
You can choose whether or not the pointer appears in the recording. If you wish, you can add text to the frames. It also supports general hotkeys to pausing and starting.
AlternativesScreenToGIF is another option, but it doesn't offer any services that are different from LICEcap. It does however offer basic editing capabilities, which is something that other options lack.
GIFCam is a different program than the other, allowing you to record frame by frame. You can also change the color of recorded animations, including monochrome and grayscale. It exports in AVI format.
Useful toolThis program is very useful for recording your computer screen. The program is not packed with features and you will need another program to edit the video. It is a great program for what it does. LICEcap is the right program if you need to create a GIF, or a PC-based tutorial.
