v 7.0.7|Circular
Image Editor
LazPaint, a free and open-source image editor program, was developed by Circular and others from the Lazarus community. LazPaint uses the Free Pascal programming language and the Lazarus IDE to create basic editing features like transparency and layer support.
AvailableLazpaint can be used on Windows, Linux, and MacOS X. A portable version of Lazpaint is available for Windows. It doesn't require installation.
Lazpaint can export and process layers using the OpenRaster format. This allows file support for other image editors such as GIMP and Krita. You can import the Photoshop file format, but only as flat images.
InterfaceLazPaint's interface is simple. To surround the canvas, the Toolbox, Layers and Colors windows can all be docked or undocked. However, docking them will result in a messy look and design. The windows should be docked to ensure that the canvas is maximized at all time.
FeaturesThis app only has a few basic features. It is a basic editing app with only transparency and layer support. LazPaint is able to import 3D models using the Wavefront Object file type. The app is limited in terms of brush customization, texture support and powerful transform tools, however.
Limited UseLazPaint is too simple for professionals and inefficient for beginners. While transparency and layer support are nice features, the limited brushes and transform tools can make it a little difficult to use. LazPaint, which showcases the Lazarus IDE and Pascal language, is a great example of Lazarus IDE and BGRABitmap graphics libraries.
