Input Mapper makes DualShock 4 controllers for PC possible

Input Mapper, a free software program that acts as an interface between PC games and the Sony PlayStation DualShock 4 controllers, aims to expand on the DS4Windows goals. It allows macro customization to allow gamers to further customize what each control does.

The macros function is useful for some customisable functionality in apps like TinyTask. However, the main focus of this app is the interfacing with the PlayStation controller. DualShock 4 controllers cannot be natively supported on the PC.

Support for Sony PlayStation controllers in PC gaming

Although the popular gaming controller from Sony is compatible with PC via gaming platforms like Steam it is not as well-liked as the Xbox controller. Due to this, not all PC games run as smooth as they could with the DualShock 4 Controller. The emulation works also with other controllers, such as the Steam controller.

The app allows you to use the DualShock 4 controller’s touchpad to emulate mouse control, making it possible for you to use the controller to play mouse-based gaming. Although the mouse emulation is not meant to replace a mouse, it can be used to simulate mouse movements.

A handy tool for gamers

This tool's utility is subjective. A gamer who only uses Steam to play would not need it, as Steam supports the DualShock 4 controller. Input Mapper is a simple tool that allows gamers to use a controller that isn't supported by their system or play games that don’t support it.

Input Mapper is free and can save you money depending on the game and controller. Some alternatives require physical adaptors. Although it is not as polished as DS4Windows it does the job and offers a variety of additional features that gamers may find useful.
