The HP LaserJet Pro 1007 driver is a host-based driver. It can replace the HP Smart Installation and the printer's in box CD. This driver is compatible for Windows computers running 64-bit Windows XP and Windows 10. This driver is required for HP Laserjet Pro 1007 owners. It is responsible for connecting and transmitting printing orders from your computer to the printer.

Printer drivers are essential as they signal Unidrv and XPSDrv to print text and images from your screen to your printer. This sends the bitmap version to your printer because it is the computing language your printer can understand. Plain Media can be described as the following: Vellum, Recycled and Bond, Rough, Preprinted and Prepunched, Color, Letterhead, and Color. Other modes can print standard envelopes, cardstock, and overhead transparencies. No matter what mode you choose, you must select the appropriate grams per square meter for the paper you intend to use. A value less than 74 is considered light, 75 to104 is considered plain, and 105 or more is considered heavy. These modes can be found in the Printer Properties tab. Other default settings, such as resolution, N-up printing, media size, and watermarks, can be modified in the Printing Preferences Tab.

In the same tab, you can also dictate the printer’s paper/quality, finishing, and paper usage. HP also offers a fully-featured Help System that will assist you with configuration and printing issues. There are three Help options available: Context-sensitive Help (What's this?), Constraint messages (Constraint messages) and Context-sensitive Help (Context-sensitive Help).
