The House of the Dead III, the third installment in the popular undead adventure/action game series, is now available. The storyline of the previous games is followed and the game introduces new gameplay concepts such as multiple story branches, optional puzzles, and hidden items. Two years after the outbreak of The House of the Dead IV in 2021, a huge global pandemic ravages the world, leaving most people dead and weak. A highly contagious strain is of a microscopic bug which, when introduced to the human population, causes the disease instead of the deadly virus. It is Dr. Isaac Lanzarote's task to find and subdue this virus before it kills more people than can be treated.

The third game in this series is about reactivated lab rats who are survivors of an earthquake, a severe virus outbreak, and seek refuge in an aircraft crash site. They encounter a group military soldiers and zombies as they navigate the plane. They eventually find help and with the assistance of a single survivor, they make their way into the facility. As the game progresses, the facility is overwhelmed by zombies. It becomes more difficult for the protagonist and his friends to defeat the ever-increasing number of zombies. While most of the gameplay takes places in one environment, there are some optional destinations such as the CDC where you can conduct minigames and receive special prizes. One of these is a timed scavenger hunting, which adds a variety of ghastly animals. You can also visit haunted mansions to find survivors of the original outbreak. You'll be encouraged at these locations to save the survivors and take part in shootouts against the infected creatures that roam the property. After you have saved all the people, you will be able to enter the facility or get out. If you fail the mission, the game will be restarted from the beginning.
