HFSExplorer, a lightweight program that can read Mac-formatted hard drives and disk images, is available. It can read file systems HFS (Mac OS Standard), HFS+(Mac OS Extended), and HFSX [Mac OS Extended with case sensitive files names].
HFSExplorer allows you to browse Mac volumes using a graphical file browser, extract files (copy them to hard disk), view detailed information about each volume, and create disk images.
HFSExplorer is able to read most.dmg/.sparsebundle images created on a Mac. This includes zlib/bzip2 compressed images, and AES-128/AES-256 encrypted images. It natively supports the partition schemas Master Boot Record, GUID Partition Table, and Apple Partition Map.
HFSExplorer is a useful tool for Intel Macs running Windows with Boot Camp. It allows you to access files on your Mac OS X volume. It is also useful if you have an HFS+-formatted iPod and need to access content within the Windows environment.
