Information regarding Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary
Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, an upgraded version Halo: Combat Evolved, was released in 2011. It is the sequel to Halo: Combat Evolved, and the Anniversary edition Halo: Combat Evolved. See our Halo Guide for more information.
Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary preserves much of its predecessors' content and gameplay, but introduces new technologies and features that are not available in any Halo game. Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary introduces "Arena", a multiplayer mode that can be played either alone or with an artificially intelligent computer. This multiplayer mode allows players to choose a character and begin the game at ground level. All other players join you once you activate the console command "Arena". There are two sides in this Arena battle: the Covenant and the allies.
The storyline in Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary is set several years after the events of The Pillar of Autumn. The Covenant bombarded the planet Reach, and only the most powerful members from the United Nations Space Command were able escape the planet before it was destroyed by the Covenant. This story is told through the story journal by the protagonist, the player, and continues throughout the game.
