Google Desktop - Quick Look
Google Desktop is a web-search application that allows desktop searches. It was created by Google for Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac OS X and Linux. Google Desktop is required to be downloaded from their website if you are using a Windows computer. To download Google Desktop for a Macintosh computer you will need to go to the Apple website. Google Desktop is a free program, but it has some limitations. Google Desktop works best on Windows machines due to compatibility issues between the two operating system.
Google Desktop functions in the same way as Google Chrome. You can search the web browser to add Google favorites, such as your home page or latest blog entry or the time of your meeting. You can access all your favorites by clicking the "favorites” option in the upper right corner. Click the square icon "search by tags", located in the lower right-hand side of the screen, to access your quick search tool. Google Desktop is simple to use and includes many useful features such as Google Talk.
Google's desktop search capabilities were launched as part of the Google Beta program. Google Desktop beta allows you to search within your local area and around the globe. Google Beta is still in development and Google has not released the final version. Google Desktop is still in beta and does not provide the same search engine-like feature as Google Search.
