Launcher and digital games library

GOG Galaxy allows you to download and organize games right from the GOG website. GOG Galaxy is also DRM free and offers social aspects such as achievements and a friend list. All your titles can be kept in one place and are regularly updated for free.

Move with the times

GOG was founded in 1994 and specialized in older games. The name Good Old Games stands for Good Old Games. Although it was possible to find older titles on abandonedware sites, this wasn't always legal. Everything on GOG was legal, and still is.

GOG was forced to compete with EA's Origin, Steam, and Epic Store. GOG also had to offer new titles and its own launcher, Galaxy.

DRM-free

GOG Galaxy is available for free on both Mac and Windows. It appears to have many of the same features as other apps, but there is one key difference. GOG games can be downloaded and purchased without DRM (digital right management).

This means that once you've purchased the game, you don't have to launch it online. GOG Galaxy is still worth your time due to all it has to offer.

Cross-platform social network

GOG Galaxy scans your entire computer for any games purchased from the site once it is downloaded and installed. It can also display information about console titles. Galaxy can display achievements from Xbox accounts.

You can add gaming friends to a group, chat with them, view their game time, achievements, and even download Galaxy.

A next-level games library

GOG Galaxy is simple to use and optional. It is possible to install and run games even without GOG Galaxy. You'd have to update the titles yourself and lose out on achievements as well as the social aspect. These features are definitely worth the use of Galaxy.
