Geany, previously known as Lightweight Directory Assistants, (LDAP), is an open-source software that provides an easy, intuitive, and interactive interface to a directory program. It is written in C++, and is available under a different licence than open-source programs. Geany-team currently supports Windows 2000 and Windows NT, Linux Solaris, Solaris, and OpenVZ.

Geany-team offers both an offline and online version, based on the original Dutch programming languages. Geany editor can be used from either the web-based GUI or the terminal. It offers syntax highlighting, code complete, find/replace and smart case folding. Code completion with matching extensions is also available. It is widely used in embedded systems, desktop computers and servers, as well as low-density networks. Geany-team's features make it an ideal programming language for creating graphical user interface apps such as software documentation, web pages and command-line interface.

Geany-team is a programming language that can be used to create web sites, rapid application development environments, and multimedia development environments. It can also be used for educational and research purposes. Geany-team features allow for easy integration of large numbers custom codes into the software. It also provides a consistent editor with text navigation capabilities and standard XML support to facilitate document organization. The standard graphic card interface allows users to use the text editors for rapid application development.
