v 1.0|TomSmizzle
Action indie game
Galactic Beacon Brigade by TomSmizzle is a physics-based, indie game. It's an entertaining, simple, and enjoyable experience that brings the galaxy together by activating beacons and flying your spaceship.
Simple idea and executionThis Windows sci-fi Windows game puts you in outer space for a simple mission. You will fly a spaceship across the galaxy and connect beacons in order to create images. This objective is too easy on its own and doesn't offer any challenges or rewarding achievements.
It is more like a mechanics reference than a game. FTL: Faster Than Light and Gaia Beyond might be a better choice if you are looking for a space adventure with plot and progress.
GameplayYou control your ship by moving it between the pulsing points displayed on the screen. You can steer your ship using WASD or the arrow keys, but space's atmosphere doesn't allow for much precision.
Instead, the ship will often hit the sides of your screen or float past the points. You can only steer left or right while you battle cosmic physics, which creates exciting gameplay.
Niveaux and progressOnce you grasp the controls, a line resembling an array of constellations will appear between the points. Each new set of points will appear until you have solved all ten. Once you solve them all, they become a hidden image.
The program will then end. After you have completed the base ten levels, there are no new maps, battles, or challenges.
DesignThe game's design looks almost hand-drawn. The graphics look more cartoonish than lazy when you launch this black-and white cosmic adventure.
Feels unfinishedIt's fun, but it doesn't feel like a gaming experience. It's too simple and short for most players. It could be faster if it was a speed game. But, like this, it's one you will enjoy before you give up.
