Windows Explorer now adds a new column called Folder Size to the Details view. This new column displays not only the file size but also the size and number of folders. It keeps track of the folders you are viewing and scans them in background to show you the full size of the folder.
Features
To see the folder sizes, don't switch to another application. It's always available when you view your folders (even in the Open and Save file dialog boxes), and it's a great visual cue that will help you find the one that you need. You can use it for any purpose, not just to clean up your disks but also to help you choose the right folder. Once you have displayed the Folder Size column, sizes will appear immediately. Large folders will continue to be scanned in the background while your folders are being viewed. Explorer will automatically update the folder-size column in real time. No more manual rescanning. Background scans won't monopolize your disk. Folder Size will wait until the background scanning is complete if it detects that other programs are doing too much reading to and writing to the hard disk being scanned.
