DxO PhotoLab, a French company that developed image processing software, is available for a 30-day free trial. The app is similar in functionality to Adobe Lightroom, Capture One and ACDSee Photo Studio.

DxO PhotoLab uses the company's image enhancement software with many manual and automatic correction tools.

Nils Kokemohr was the former CTO at Nik Software. He invented the U Point technology in order to improve selective photo adjustments and touch-ups. His program has been integrated into all eight Nik Collection programs. DxO purchased Nik Collection from Google in 2017. This made the relationship even closer.

PhotoLab is superior to Adobe Lightroom in many ways. The two main advantages it has over Lightroom are its quality of denoising and the flexibility to personalise your workspace to make your tools work best for you.

Adobe is a major player within the photo editing software market and has a suite of products that complement one another. DxO PhotoLab is not as integrated as Adobe.

Capture One is a professional program that allows you to work with RAW images. You can start with a free trial, then subscribe to the monthly plan.

ACDSee Photo Studio is more geared towards amateur users. You can also try it for free for 30 days. It then follows a monthly subscription plan.

All options are high-quality programs in terms of functionality. The different pricing models may not be the best for you. Lightroom is a monthly subscription and DxO a lifetime, single-purchase license.

DxO allows for a superior workflow which can make a huge difference to professionals working under pressure. The photo editing tools are just as effective as Lightroom and, in some cases, even better.

DxO PhotoLab is a great image-editing and optical corrector software package. Even someone who is not familiar with professional photo editing will be able to use the interface and customize it.
