What is DeSmuME? Is it the same as a Game Genie for the Nintendo DS?

DeSmuME is a free and open-source videogame emulator that can be downloaded from its website. It was created by Yohoao Wong and released in November 2005. It is based upon the original PlayStation game. It can be used to copy game discs or back up data.

DeSmuME allows you to play classic games such as Super Mario, Zelda and Final Fantasy. This program is able to emulate and read Gamecube games. This feature allows you to load your Gamecube game and play them on your computer. Other features include keyboard control, online help, save state, fast/slow bootup, and other cool stuff.

Many people have downloaded this emulator recently, and many others still don't own it. I will refer it to as a "deSmuemaker" to avoid confusion. There are many similar programs, but deSmuemaker has the best reviews.
