Developed by QualitySoft and weighing in at just 6 MB, bcWebCam can be used as a lightweight installer. There is a freeware edition that can handle both QR and bar codes. There are two paid pro editions that can handle various obscure codes formats.

The app's user interface is very intuitive. Step-by-step instructions will be provided when you first open the app. You will be guided through scanning your first code, and then entering it into an app or website.

The main interface displays a large visual feed from your webcam with many buttons below. You can adjust the focus or zoom in with sliders. You can adjust the code scanning process by using the settings button.

The app is compatible with virtually all Windows versions, including Windows XP and Vista, Windows 7, 8, and 10. To operate, it requires.NET Framework 3.5.

All the latest versions of the software can be downloaded in English or German. The app was previously only available in German for older versions (previously 1.1).
