Shing is the developer of A Short Rest. It's available for Windows 8 users and is free to download as a ZIP file. It's a fantasy app that gives you printables for role-playing games.

A Short Rest is a pastoral fantasy that focuses on the concept of a short rest during a game. The developer created a set of digital maps and cards. It can be used for role-playing and world-building. This is meant to make short breaks in games more enjoyable. LEGO Digital Designer allows you to create models by yourself if you are interested in creating art.

This download provides access to digital files that are watercolour and ink-illustrated. Each of them can be downloaded as high-resolution JPEGs. There are seven maps measuring 12" x 9, and fifty cards. All of them were created by Shing Yin Khor. These cards can be used to develop your game.

These cards have characters and odd or ordinary objects. They can also be used at a roadside merchant or vendor. Each card will have a handwritten description at its bottom.

These maps and cards can be printed and licensed under an International Creative Commons licence. This content is available for non-commercial and attribution. This means that you can copy and distribute the material in any format or medium. You can also adapt it by remixing.

Follow the instructions provided in the PDF. The maps can be printed at any print shop. The cards measure 2" x 3" and have a quarter bleed. You may need to scale the cards down if you plan to print them at home. They will look best on uncoated papers.

To spice up your game, you will find a variety pictures on the cards. You will be challenged to think of new characters, such as a fisherlizard, a dried squid on sticks, a worm, succulents, snails and many others.
