v 2.0.45.0|O&O Software
O&O SpeedCheck allows users to simulate Windows in a fragmented or defragmented state. The application does not write any data, but rather reads test data from your hard disk. After the simulation is completed, you will be able to see a comparison between the two times and the potential increase in speed. The system defragmentation will allow you to see how fast your computer can be accelerated.
O&O SpeedCheck is divided into two phases. The first phase simulates reading fragmented files, while the second simulates reading the same files if they were defragmented. From the beginning of the partition, files are continuously read one after another on a hard drive level. During this reading process the test files are opened. Read operations are performed according to the number and size of the fragments. This simulates how Windows will read your system's fragmented file. The defragmented files are read in one operation and loaded into the memory.
Comparing the total times for both runs will show how much your system may speed up. To eliminate any side effects caused by the operating systems and background applications, both the test runs are run five times. You should not run any other applications during the test runs as they can cause a distortion of the result.
