How to get passed internet filters
Level of difficulty: Intermediate
It is often found that many educational institutes and offices block some of the websites. These blocked websites cannot be then accessed from the systems owned by the organizations. The blocked sites generally are either porn (for obvious moral) or social networking websites (these are known to waste time). These blocked websites can also be accessed by bypassing the Internet filters.
Materials Needed:- For bypassing Internet filters one would require easy access to a computer
- a mobile phone from which web can be accessed
- an Opera Mini downloading facility and a web based proxy filter. It is also necessary that the person who is attempting such a bypass is well versed with the computer and Internet concepts and their workings.
Step 1
Download the Opera Mini browser on your mobile phone and access which ever website you want without the interference of the filters. The Opera Mini browser can also be installed on the organization’s system and then sync can be made between the bookmarks on both the devices.
Step 2
Many websites which cannot be accessed otherwise can be accessed by writing ‘https’ instead of ‘http’ before the name of the website in the browser. Many Internet filters allow access to the secured sites or the SSLs. SSL stands for Secure Socket Layer. The secured sites do not generally get blocked
Step 3
The website translators can be of great help. There different types of translators available on the Internet like the Google Translator. These translators translate the website into a language selected by you and then you can comfortably read the web page.
Step 4
Another very easy way to bypass Internet filters is the use of Google cache. Use the Google search engine and search the website you want to visit, now instead of clicking on the highlighted link of the website click on the option which says cache. This cache is a storage room of Google where all the web pages get stored; these pages might not be having the latest updates.
Step 5
There are many proxy filters which easily give you access tot the blocked websites. One just has to download such a proxy filter, type in the name of the website and then you can access the website.
Step 6
One can also set up a proxy in the Internet Explorer itself. Just open a Internet Explorer window and got to the ‘tools’ option. You will then go to Internet options, then to Connection and then finally to LAN settings. Here you will find an option of Proxy server, select the checkbox and enter the address of the proxy server.
