How to assemble computer
Level of difficulty: Easy
For assembling a computer there are certain things that you should keep in mind. What the computer is needed for? Are the parts which you are looking for required for the computer? Things which are needed for assembling a computer include, a motherboard, a compatible processor with cooling fan, compatible memory module, tower casing with power supply, graphics card (in case the motherboard does not have a built-in video adapter), compatible hard disk for storage, CD/DVD-ROM/RW drive, ps/2 or USB mouse, ps/2 or USB keyboard, CRT or LCD monitor, screw driver, thermal paste or grease.
Materials Needed:- Specialized hardware
Step 1
Firstly, lay all the materials which are required on a flat surface. Check that the materials and place them on anti-static sheets or wrappers in order to avoid damage due to electro-static discharge.
Step 2
Now carefully place the processor on the CPU slot of the motherboard. Make sure that the processor is positioned correctly. Do not touch any lead of the processor. It might damage the system. For ensuring perfection, refer to the manual.
Step 3
Put thermal paste on the cooling fan. Now the compound should be spread evenly on the metal surface. Refer to the motherboard instructions while installing the fan on the motherboard. Connect the fan’s power to the pins on the motherboard.
Step 4
The motherboard should now be placed in the tower casing. Then install the back panel. Make sure that it fits the rectangular hole which is situated at the back of the casing.
Step 6
Now insert the memory module in the right place. The slots of the memory should be checked to ensure that it fits perfectly into the board’s RAM slot.
Step 7
Insert the graphics card in the appropriate place of the motherboard, in case the board has no video adapter built in. Now install the CD/DVD-ROM/RW drive in the casing. The hard disk should be connected using an IDE or a SATA cable.
Step 8
The casing’s power should now be connected. Appropriate pins should be used to reset it. The power slot on the board should have the same number of pins as the power supply. Now cables should be attached to all the components. The CD/DVD-ROM/RW drive and the hard disk each need to have a power cable attached to them.
Step 9
CRT or LCD monitor power cable should now be attached to the power supply. The mouse and the keyboard should also be connected to the appropriate slots. Assembling your computer is complete now.
