Media player are very important tools for people who prefer their music from their computers. For one reason or the other one may feel the need to remove recent files list found in their media player. One of the ways through which one can remove the list of recent files from their computer is using either ClearMRU.exe file within Windows Media Player Bonus pack belonging to Media Player 7.1 or alternatively they can use Windows Media Player Bonus Pack for Windows XP.
Another method that can work for a user eager to remove recent files for their media player is use of the Registry Editor. The latter is used to manually delete either RecentFileList key or RecentURLList key. Using the feature known as Clear History that is located in Windows Media Player 9 Series can help disable the files as well.
If one wants to remove play lists form their computers using a Registry Editor they should first start the Registry Editor. (Regedt32.exe). The HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Player\RecentFileList registry should be located as the second step. If the user’s Windows Media Player is 6.4 they should click on Recent URLList and then on Delete that is found on Edit menu. The final step is to quit the Registry Editor. If one wants to remove the items from their registry they should use one of the below registry keys.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Player\RecentURLList (for contents streamed from particular web sites), HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Player\RecentFileList (for removing the whole file list that was played recently).
The above settings are available Media Player version 7 and subsequents. If one clears the Recent Filelist they may not be bale to remove the sufficient content. In Windows media Player 9 and 10 one should first click Options found under Tools menu. They should click on Privacy tab and then the Clear History button to clear the recently. On version 9 one should click on Clear CD/DVD and on version 10 they should Clear Caches button.
