How to add memory to laptop

A laptop is a personal computer designed for mobile use. It is small enough to sit on a person’s lap while in use. Laptops are usually notebook shaped with less thickness and dimensions. They are designed in the flip form factor for protecting the keyboard and screen and have a nominal weight. Today, there are already more laptops than desktops in business, and laptops are becoming obligatory for student use and more popular for general use. At present, more laptops are sold in the worldwide market than desktop.Adding memory to laptop is no rocket science. It is very simple and with a paper manual, it has become easier for us. It is generally believed that upgrading or replacing the memory troubleshoots the entire problem. But that is not the real case. So proper care needs to be taken on this. Also we should have a clear idea about the currently installed memory and the maximum memory capacity of the laptop. On completing ascertaining that the laptop will support memory upgrade, come the crucial steps.

Step 1
The first thing that is to be done is to remove the battery so that there are no possibilities of power coming on.

Then the screw that secures the memory cavity cover needs to be removed. The lid lifts away exposing the socket that is lying parallel to the motherboard. That is only the expansion memory socket also known as the SODIMM socket.

Then comes one of the most important step and that is installing the memory. But it needs to be done very carefully because static electricity can kill computer parts very easily and the memory is no exception.
Step 4
It is generally advised to keep the memory in its static bag right up until it is ready to be installed in the laptop. SODIMM for laptops are bit different from the DIMMs of PC.
Step 5
SODIMMs are needed to be installed in a particular angle and leaned down into the latches and it is to be made sure that is inserted with the contact edge matching the key in the laptop memory socket.
Step 6
Once it is adjusted in place, the cover has to be reinstalled securing it with two screws and reinstall the battery. Finally the process is complete and you are ready to speed up the laptop and boost its performance by adding more RAM.
